I am a Peruvian filmmaker that gravitates towards emotionally charged, grounded, and interpersonal stories that feel lived-in - ones that help open a portal to the world around us. My work centers on uplifting the voices of my community and beyond, while keeping each story personal and sincere to the characters involved.
Through mostly narrative work, and non-fiction, I explore intricate stories of human behavior that shape us and make up how we are. I am interested in the quiet tensions between two people that used to have a bond, the unspoken dynamics of old friends or lovers, and the emotional undercurrents that define connection. Through character-driven storytelling, I create films that resonate deeply with audiences while illuminating the broader social and cultural conflicts that unite communities around the world.
I feel a deep responsibility for the time each person gives to my films, which is what leads my filmmaking process. My work is grounded in realism but guided by empathy. Whether through documentary or fiction, my intention is to create space for reflection, recognition, and transformation. I make it known that I am aware I am not owed time, but responsible for the time I ask of my audience.
Film, for me, is not only a medium of expression but a responsibility: to observe truthfully, to represent thoughtfully, and to tell stories that make the audience feel something.
I am very interested in the quote by french filmmaker, Jean Renoir, where he says “The truly terrible thing is that everyone has their reasons.” This quote guides my views on filmmaking and the type of stories I tell. At my core, I am a storyteller; however, my true passion lies in writing and directing. Everything I do is for Peru and to bring visibility to my country.
